SUMMARY

This sequel series features Goku grown up with his son, Gohan.  The original english dub was co-produced by Funimation and Saban Entertainment in 1996.  It was heavily edited and some episodes were cut or merged together, reducing the first 67 episodes to 53.  These episodes originally aired in syndication.  When the series was re-aired on Cartoon Network’s Toonami block beginning in 1998, it found a new larger audience.  Funimation then went into production on its own for episodes #54-276 (#68-291) with their own dub and new voice cast.  After video rights to the first 53 English dubbed episodes expired, Funimation re-dubbed the original 67 episodes and restored all original cut episodes.  These re-dubbed episodes also aired on Cartoon Network in 2005.

The two english dubs are referred to as the Ocean Group and Filmation Group.  The Ocean Dub was recorded in Canada by Ocean Studios and this group did the first 67 (53 total not counting the cut/merged episodes).  This cast also did the first three movies in association with Pioneer Entertainment.  This group also began recording an alternate English dub for the UK and other English speaking international markets beginning with episode #108.  This version has not been seen or released in North America.

The Funimation dub was produced in-house by Funimation in Texas.  This group did the US Cartoon Network first-run episodes for #68-291.  Funimation also had this group re-record a new ‘re-dub’ of the original 67 episodes, with less edits and no merged or cut episodes.  This group also re-recorded a new dub for the first three movies as well as the additional DBZ films.  Both dubs featured different music.  The Ocean dub had it's own original music and the Funimation dub for the most part used the original Japanese music score.  When the remastered DVDs and Blu-Rays were released, some episodes had dialogue re-recorded to restore additional changes and edits.

EPISODE GUIDE

The first episode title is translated from the original Japanese.
The second and third episode titles are the two versions of the English dub.

For episodes #1-67, the second episode title is the original 1996 Funimation/Saban English dub title. Some of the episodes were cut and merged together, hence the shorter episode count.

The third episode title is the 2005 Funimation English re-dub of these same episodes.  This new re-dub restored cuts, skipped or merged episodes from the 1996 dub.
