SUMMARY
This one-hour series featured new episodes and reruns of The New Fred and Barney Show along with a 30 minute segment featuring two shorts of The Thing. Fred and Barney never interacted with the Thing except in the theme song that introduced the series. Although the Thing looked like the Marvel Comics’ Fantastic Four character, he was reimagined as a teenager named Benjy Grimm. When Benjy used his magic ‘Thing Ring’ he changed into the orange rock skinned Thing.
