SUMMARY:
DePatie-Freleng was the last new animation studio to produce theatrical cartoons. Up from the ashes of the closing of Warner Bros' animation studio in 1963, David DePatie and Friz Freleng opened their own. They produced the opening credits for the Pink Panther film and it was so popular a series of shorts followed and the rest is history. The Pink Panther was silent through his run until the ill-faded 1993 TV show. Other cartoon characters soon followed the Pink Panther including the Inspector (from the Pink Panther films), Roland and Rattfink, Tijuana Toads, the Ant and the Aardvark and more. The Pink Panther ended his run in 1980, but continued his popularity in tv shows and merchandising.
