SUMMARY: Based on the 1952 manga series.  Professor Boynton, sadden by the death of his son creates a robot boy, Astro Boy.  But Boynton is disappointed in the robot and disowns him.  Dr. Elefun takes him in and guides him into fighting crime and helping mankind.  This was the first Japanese produced cartoon which launched the phenomenon known as anime!
