SUMMARY:

In this incarnation, the Human Torch was replaced with H.E.R.B.I.E. the Robot. The Johnny Storm/Human Torch character rights were being used at the time for a television pilot movie in development by Universal Studios.  This is also why the Human Torch wasn't able to star in the 1981 Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends series, being replaced by Firestar.  Jack Kirby, co-creator of the Fantastic Four, drew storyboards for this series.
