SUMMARY

The Heathcliff and Dingbat Show was the first animated series to feature Heathcliff, the fiesty orange cat that began as a newspaper comic strip in 1973 by artist George Gately.  This first series featured two five-minute Heathcliff shorts as well as two five-minute shorts featuring Dingbat and the Creeps.  Dingbat is a vampire dog, accompanied by Nobody, a talking pumpkin and Spare Rib, a Curly-inspired skeleton.  These characters were created by Ruby-Spears specifically for the series. Heathcliff returned for a second season as Dingbat was dropped for Marmaduke, another comic strip feature.
