05.14.2019 - JONATHAN HICKMAN UNVEILS AN EXCLUSIVE FIRST-LOOK FOR HIS RADICAL PLANS FOR THE X-MEN

It all ends here. This is forever.

A historic new era of the X-Men begins this July!

                                                                                                              

Today, Jonathan Hickman (Fantastic Four, The Avengers, Infinity, Secret Wars) revealed an exclusive first look – and a look forward – for his highly-anticipated upcoming series, HOUSE OF X and POWERS OF X! 

Beginning this July through September, all the current X-titles will come to an end as Hickman reshapes the mutant world forever starting with HOUSE OF X and POWERS OF X. Speaking with Comicbook.com Hickman shared his long-term plans for the X-Men with fans and retailers everywhere. 

“We needed to sell the idea that this is what we're going to be doing for the next few years,” said Hickman. “We wanted to be clear to the fans, to the stores, and just as importantly, to the creators who are going to be staffing these books in the future. We wanted the message to be very clear: This is a whole new era for the X-Men. This is what we're doing now.”

Fans of the current series will see that the X-universe has been dovetailing to this new era, which will build from every major X-Men milestone since 1963 up through all of today’s fan-favorite X-Men series.

Following HOUSE OF X and POWERS OF X, a new X-universe will emerge, with Hickman leading the first phase with an ongoing flagship X-Men book alongside multiple new series and creative teams. “Some [books] will be traditional fare, some carry through on ideas presented in HOX and POX. Some books are completely new concepts,” said Hickman. More details about these books will be revealed at San Diego Comic Con later this July.

With the interview, Comicbook.com also debuted the next set of covers for HOUSE OF X and POWERS OF X issues #2 and #3, along with never-before-seen pages from each issue #1!

“HOUSE OF X, is a story about a pivotal month in the history of the X-Men where everything changes for mutants on Earth. And the other, POWERS OF X, is a story about the history of mutants in the Marvel Universe,” explained Hickman. Each series will be released on an alternate weekly schedule, starting with HOUSE OF X, followed by POWERS OF X. Fans will be able to follow along each week this summer and witness history unfold.

05.10.2019 - CELEBRATE 80 YEARS OF MARVEL WITH MARVEL COMICS #1000

The greatest talent ever assembled for one story coming this August!

                                                                                                              

As Marvel honors its 80^th Anniversary this year, Marvel announced a new epic comic book issue to celebrate the legacy of the Marvel Universe:MARVEL COMICS #1000! Featuring 80 creative teams with luminaries from both classic and current comic books (and beyond!), this oversized one-shot will be packed with pages spanning across generations of Marvel’s iconic Super Heroes – with cover art from legendary artist Alex Ross!

As the Marvel Universe reaches new heights around the globe, MARVEL COMICS #1000 serves as a testament to the world of characters and stories that have captured the hearts of millions of fans – whether they’ve followed Marvel for years or are just getting started. Anyone will be able to pick up this book and dive right into the Marvel Comics Universe!

Al Ewing, writer of the critically-acclaimed Immortal Hulk series, will be the primary writer of MARVEL COMICS #1000, framing the overall structure of the book.

“There are so many threads in this mystery, so many different parts of Marvel you’ll find secret connections,” Ewing told THIS WEEK IN MARVEL. “There are a lot of synchronicities and echoes in this, and threads between all of that.”

“This is by far the most complex and complicated and difficult book I’ve ever had to assemble,” SVP and Executive Editor Tom Brevoort told The New York Times, speaking to the historic unprecedented scope of the story.

Also speaking with the Times, Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski described how the buzzworthy creative teams were cast – especially with talents outside of comics: “Our characters are mentioned in so many different ways and in so many different mediums and we always keep track. Now these distinguished individuals are able to contribute back to the comics they grew up on.”

Among those individuals, some of whom teased the project on social media this week, are long-time Marvel veterans -- including Roy Thomas, Peter David, Gerry Conway, and Adam Kubert -- and current creators -- including Saladin Ahmed, Gail Simone, Chip Zdarsky, and Kris Anka -- as well as talents outside of comics, like filmmakers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, Taboo of the Black Eyed Peas, and basketball legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

The acclaimed artist brings his talent to the House of Ideas with new projects!

                                                                                                              

Marvel Entertainment is excited to announce that artist Pat Gleason will bring his distinctive style and ideas to Marvel in an exclusive agreement!

One of the most versatile creators in the comic industry, Gleason has lent his talent to numerous DC, Marvel, and Image properties over the years, helping to produce multiple New York Times best-selling books including Batman And Robin, Aquaman, Green Lantern Corps, JLA, and Welcome To The Working Week with Patton Oswalt.

Gleason, known for his striking dynamic art style, will be joining the incredible family of Spider-Man artists on today’s titles to bring the Marvel Universe to life, starting with a short story in Amazing Spider-Man #25 in July!

"Pat and I started our comic book careers together almost two decades ago, and ever since joining Marvel, he's an artist I've been dying to work with here, to have him draw our incredible characters,” said Editor-in-Chief C.B.
